Advanced Business Institute – Website Privacy Policy

Advanced Business Institute Pty Ltd (ABN 00 123 456 789) (“ABI”, “we”, “our”, “us”) values your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information obtained through our public website and any linked portals, forms or mobile experiences (together “Site”). It complements our internal student and staff privacy procedures and replaces all previous online privacy statements.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive information (e.g. health, disability or cultural background) through the public Site unless you voluntarily provide it in a free-text field. If you submit sensitive information, you consent to our handling it as described in this policy.

How we use cookies & analytics

We use first-party and third-party cookies, pixels and similar technologies to:

  • remember your preferences (e.g. language, font size)
  • analyse traffic patterns via Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
  • tailor marketing on platforms such as Google Ads and LinkedIn.

You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser or by selecting “Decline” on our cookie banner. Essential cookies (required for Site security and core functions) cannot be switched off.

Disclosure of personal information

We may share personal information with:

  • Australian Government departments, NCVER, state training authorities and the USI Registrar for mandatory VET reporting
  • third-party service providers who support our IT, hosting, payment, marketing-automation, SMS or survey functions (under contract and confidentiality)
  • your nominated employer or supervisor where workplace evidence or confirmation is required for course participation
  • external auditors, regulators or insurers as required by law
  • debt-collection agencies if fees remain unpaid after reasonable notice.

We do not sell personal information to commercial third parties.

Storage & security

Personal information is stored on secure servers located in Australia. We implement role-based access controls, encryption in transit and at rest, multi-factor authentication and regular penetration testing. Physical records (e.g. signed documents) are kept in locked cabinets in restricted areas. Records relating to vocational training are retained for at least seven years, or longer where law or funding contracts require.

Overseas disclosure

Some cloud vendors we use (e.g. Microsoft 365, Mailchimp) may store or process limited data in overseas jurisdictions. Those vendors are bound by contractual clauses requiring privacy protections equivalent to the APPs.

Direct marketing & your choices

We will only send you marketing communications if:

  • you have provided express consent, or
  • you are an existing learner or client and the content relates to similar products or services.

You can opt out at any time by:

Opting out of marketing will not affect essential service communications (e.g. enrolment updates, fee notices).

Access, correction & complaints

Access/correction
You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you by emailing studentservices@advancedbusinessinstitute.au. We will respond within 30 days. A small fee may apply for extensive retrieval.

Complaints
If you believe we have breached the APPs:

  1. Email privacy@abi.edu.au outlining the alleged breach.
  2. We will acknowledge receipt within five business days and aim to resolve the issue within 30 days.
  3. If you are not satisfied, you may escalate to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Third-party links

Our Site may contain links to external websites. ABI is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect legislative, technical or business developments. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. We encourage you to review the policy periodically.
